QAYG MAPLE STREET POUCH
Are you familiar with the QAYG (quilt as you go) technique? You start with a quilting batting base and add small fabric scraps one at a time. This creates a single quilted panel that you can use just like any other fabric panel for pouch making.
I love this technique and have used it a lot in the past, so when I spotted my friend Ingrid’s gorgeous QAYG Maple Street Pouch on IG, I knew it was time to revisit it.
For this project, I made two panels a little larger than the main exterior panels the pattern called for. Once they were finished, I gave them a good press and trimmed them to the exact size. From there, I simply followed the pattern instructions.
I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how quickly and easily this pouch comes together.
I love how well this chunky striped zipper by the foot plays with the quilted panels, giving the whole project a polished look while still keeping that relaxed, scrappy vibe.
The Maple Street Pouch pattern comes in FOUR SIZES. This is the small pouch (finished size 7'' x 2 ½'' x 2''), which makes for a perfect pencil case or makeup bag. I can’t wait to put this cutie to use.
I must say, the finished pouch didn’t disappoint :).
Would you like to make a boxy pouch like this too? If so, just click the links below to grab the pattern and watch the free step-by-step video tutorial that will guide you through the entire sewing process.
And don’t forget to share your finished pouches on social media. I always enjoy seeing your beautiful makes!
Wishing you all a happy and creative day. Svetlana
